Mother's Day

Ok I know mother's day was two weeks ago but we just got my present all set up last week so I'm just now getting around to sharing!

Jared came home with this massive flower arrangement. (that's and 8x10 frame next to them) It had lily's, my favorite!

He has this thing about buying flowers in a vase that way I don't have to do any work arranging them. However, because I have an amazing husband I now have a whole cabinet full of vases, of all shapes and sizes!

Jared gave me a card before church that had a "letter from Addiston" in it. The letter brought me to tears and made me all the more anxious to hold her. He wrote about my excitement to meet her, the little things we've done to prepare for her and how she appreciated them and all of the other sacrifices and things I have done for her. It was the most creative thing I could have imagined and is something I'll always cherish.

This was my real present. It came later that week. We picked it out months ago, so I already knew about it, but it's absolutely perfect.

A lot of research went into this chair. Most gliders are made for people 5'7" and above. I am a whopping 5'3" and besides the huge belly currently on the front of me I'm the same size I was in junior high. This chair is a Juvenile glider (Jared loves to tease me about that one!) So when I sit in it I can touch the floor and lean against the back at the same time :) It is made for adults, it's just petite!

So it was my first Mother's Day, and although I would have loved for Addiston to make an appearance she didn't. We went out to lunch after church, and Jared cooked me dinner. It was relaxing and perfect, but I secretly can't wait until next year when there is no relaxation to be had, my big gift is crayon scribbles on construction paper, and we are chasing our almost one year old around the yard.

A close call

So this morning I had another of my weekly doctor's appointments.

Last week I arrived 2 minutes late for my appointment and Jared about 10 minutes late but really it was no big deal because we sat in the waiting room for over an hour waiting to be called back. Today I arrived 5 minutes early and told Jared not to worry about rushing there from work to be there on time because it would be a waste. Well boy was I wrong. I had just started reading my new book that Jared bought me when the nurse called me back.

Jared wasn't there yet so I asked her if we could wait for him and she said we can't wait but I'll bring him back as soon as he gets here.

I stalled going to the bathroom and called him telling him to hurry.

They weighed me, (I gained 1 pound) took a urine sample, measured my belly (36 inches from top to bottom-a little bit small) took my blood pressure (98/70) and listened to the heartbeat (135-the slowest it has ever been, but thats normal at this point) the nurse left and I waited for the doctor hoping she would take a while. I checked my phone, it had only been 8 minutes since I called Jared, and it takes at least 15 for him to make it there from work.

The doctor walked in. She informed me that my group B strep test that they had preformed at my last visit was negative, (1 less shot I have to get when I'm in labor) and she checked my cervix. I'm still only 50% effaced but I am starting to dilate. Not enough for them to think there will be a baby this week but I'm almost 1 centimeter. (only 9 1/2 to go-ha)

The doctor and I discussed the possibility of induction if this little girl doesn't come out naturally which is a total possibility because of scar tissue and issues I have had in the past. She informed me that she didn't want to schedule anything early but would make an appointment for the week of June 7th sometime (letting me know at my next appointment the exact date and time) and if she came before that we would simply cancel the induction.

She signed my discharge and went on her way, I got dressed and walked out into the hallway just in time for Jared to walk in, he missed all the action :( He did show up and was glad that everything was ok but didn't get to be in on any of the important stuff which bummed me out big time.

Jump ahead a few hours.

I'm at home and not feeling to hot. I decided to take it easy and lay down on the couch for a bit. I was having some cramps and when I went to the bathroom discovered I had been bleeding, not just spotting, bleeding.

I called the doctor, of course they had to take a message and call me back so in the mean time I pack all the last minute stuff to go to the hospital, toothbrushes, deodorant, my favorite pillow, the stuff you need but use every day.

Well when the doctor called be back she said that for some people the beginning stages of labor can feel like cramps from a menstrual cycle, which is exactly what I was feeling, she told me to go lay down immediately, stay that way for at least 6 hours, and drink tons of water. Not that it is a bad thing for Addiston to come now just that if my body was stressed from being poked and prodded and was going into labor because of that rest and fluids would stop labor but if it was really time for her to come nothing could stop it.

Well 4 hours of rest and fluids later and the cramping has stopped, the bleeding is still there but I'm told not to worry about that for now as long as it stays light and my water doesn't break of course!

So bed rest, I've only been on it for a short time and I've decided it's not for me! I've watched really crappy daytime tv, read a few chapters in my new book (which I love my husband for buying me) and folded some clean towels. Boredom has already reared it's ugly head and Jared won't be home for another three hours.

Pregnancy Brain

Studies show that it is a proven fact that pregnant women especially those in the third trimester have minor short term memory loss.

I have noticed a few times throughout this journey that I have become a bit more flaky than normal. I've always been a list maker so that skill has definitely come in handy however it does help to remember where you put your list.

Well today was the culmination of my Pregnancy brain experience!

I was running errands around town, exchanging some baby toys (that we got doubles of) returning unnecessary hardware, and searching for suitable hospital pajamas. Well I was in Kohl's and my friend Tiffany text me. We had a short conversation via text as I tried on a few things, admired the kitchen gadgets and dug through clearance throw pillows.

When I went to check out I wanted to see about what time it was. I reached for my phone... it wasn't secure in the pocket inside my purse where it should be. From time to time I do get careless and just toss it in so I proceeded to empty almost the entire content of my purse out on a display table, while juggling my purchases, only to find the bottom of my purse yet no phone!

I scanned the floor around me hoping it had fallen out. I grabbed for non-existent pockets. My phone was missing. My lifeline to family members when I go into labor. My way to reach Jared if anything were to happen. EEK!

I began to retrace my steps, going to every item I had merely glanced at and examining it for the slightest trace of my phone or a clue to where my phone might be. After circling the entire store, twice, I had no luck. I found an older lady and about scared the nail polish right off of her when I asked if I could borrow her phone to call mine. She wouldn't let me touch her phone but did call mine three times as I scanned the area where I last remember using it. Again, no luck.

I had just about given up hope and was going to leave when I figured I'd ask a sales associate to take down Jared's number in case a phone turned up. She told me to go to the customer service desk and lo and behold when I walked up I spotted my phone sitting with a few others behind the counter.

So for a ten minute text conversation, I got to experience an hour of searching the entire store of Kohl's because apparently I set my phone down in the middle of some random display of home goods.

I love being pregnant and experience all of the joys that go along with it, but I will be happy to have my body and mind back!

Almost

So yesterday I had a doctors appointment. This begins my weekly appointments where they check every time to see if I'm dilated, effaced, and all that other fun stuff that accompanies pushing a human out of my body.

I didn't gain any weight according to my nurse in the past two weeks but I feel as if she may be full of it. Last time I had an appointment it was freezing outside and I wore a thick sweater and a jacket. This time I was just wearing a thin t-shirt, easily 2 pounds of difference.

My blood pressure is perfect, the baby's heartbeat is strong and my belly is measuring right as it should, 36 inches from top to bottom. A few days ago I told Jared I thought that the baby had dropped (meaning that she has moved further down into my pelvis-getting ready to come out) neither of us could tell a physical difference but I have been able to breathe a lot easier meaning she's not curled up in my ribcage anymore :) Yeah for breathing! Well the nurse confirmed what I thought, when she measured me she said it looked as if I had dropped, so our little girl is doing what she's suppose to be doing and getting ready to come out.

The doctor checked me and said that I am not dilated at all but that I am 50% effaced and that Addiston is most definitely head down. So her guess is no baby this week but things are progressing and looking good. I'm almost considered full term (37 weeks) meaning she can come with no medical worries.

I can't wait to meet her.
